
Ashley Kay Armstrong
Praised for her “charismatic presence” (Chicago Classical Review) and “velvety voice” (Chicago Tribune), “powerhouse mezzo-soprano” Ashley Kay Armstrong’s “star power” (Picture this Post) “lights up the stage” (The Gazette) while winning over the hearts of audiences throughout the nation.
Ms. Armstrong begins her 2022/2023 season reprising Hannah After in Kaminsky’s As One as a guest artist with Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. During the 2021/2022 season, Ms. Armstrong made her debut with North Shore Music Festival as The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors and returned to Opera Santa Barbara for her role debut as Hannah After in the 50th performance of As One.
Recent career highlights include Olga in Eugene Onegin, Rebecca Nurse in The Crucible, and Véronique in Le docteur Miracle with Opera Santa Barbara; Javotte in Manon with Opera Idaho; Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Jenny Diver in The Threepenny Opera, and Meg Brockie in Brigadoon with Cedar Rapids Opera; and Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Bel Cantanti Opera.
Ms. Armstrong is an alumna of the Chrisman Studio Artist program at Opera Santa Barbara and the Emerging Artist program at Opera Idaho. She has been a Semi-Finalist for the American Prize in Art Song and is managed by Encompass Arts.
