boheme Opera brings the main stage to Main Street

Boheme Opera NJ has a long tradition of taking world-class opera out of the theater and making it accessible in local communities. If you listen closely, you can hear us performing in your own backyard - whether it’s at a community center, school, local auditorium, library…or even the home of an arts-loving host. Everyone needs a little Boheme Opera - so when you can’t come to the music, we’ll make sure that the music comes to you.

Our exciting “lectu-tainment” series at Monroe Township Library combines live performance with insight into the people and history behind the music.

Let four amazing artists and a selection of memorable songs and music be your guide for opera’s thrilling journey from the concert house to the Broadway stage

This lecture performance by Boheme Opera NJ will feature three singers, accompanied by Boheme Opera NJ Managing Director Sandra Pucciatti. The program will demonstrate how every aspect of the modern Broadway show had its beginnings in opera over two hundred years ago. Topics will include the origin of the songs, how they were constructed and where the stories came from.

Composers will include Puccini, Lehar, Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Frank Loesser and others. Shows represented will include “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi, “Vilja O Vilja” from The Merry Widow, as well as songs from Showboat, Guys and Dolls, and others. This program is taking place under the auspices of West Windsor Township Senior and Social Services and is Boheme Opera NJ’s debut at the West Windsor Senior Center.
